It is the only complete book that deals exclusively with the subject written by a veteran working in heat treating ruby-sapphire since 1985. This book is an account of the most commonly practiced heat treatment methods and apparatuses which alter the appearance of ruby- sapphire. This edition explains how the chromophoric impurities may enhance or sometimes ruin rubies and sapphires after heating. The book contains 384 pages, 1200 color photos and diagrams explaining 600+ heat-treatment experiments performed on rubies-sapphires from worldwide localities are discussed as performed at the author's laboratory in Bangkok.
