POWER SUPPLY & ELECTRONICS. The LED digital lighting system is designed, configured and assembled in two separate modular electronic printed circuit boards (PCB). A universal 110/220Vac power supply using thyroidal transformer mounted on one PCB; the lighting control system is mounted on the other PCB providing electrically noise-free, stable, free of spikes and flickers lighting environments, substantially reducing the eye fatigue. The portaLEDscope can be operated in three power modes: 220Vac or 110Vac or Baterry. The desired voltage (110Vac or 220Vac) is selected by a manual sliding switch mounted on the back of the microscope base.

BATTERY. Long life VARL battery provides continuous illumination for about 5+ hours. It is fully recharged in less than 3 hours if plugged in 110V or 220V AC power. Pilot lights indicate the condition of the battery: low battery (red), in use (orange), full (green).

DARK-FIELD ILLUMINATION SYSTEM. The dark field effect is achieved by a series of 24 high-intensity heatless LED lamps portioned geometrically having color temperature of 5500°K and variable intensity control producing superb dark-field lighting environment without yellow tinge at any intensity. The intensity of both types of light is controlled with variable dimmer.

OPTICS. Best quality Chinese made stereo microscope pod with 1X and 3X objectives, a pair of super wide field 10X eyepieces and an auxiliary 2X objective lens provide selectable turet-type magnifications of 10X, 20X, 30X and 60X.

ARM HOLDER. Rack and pinion microscope arm and pole is mounted on the base and can be easily detached from the base. Working distance is 85 mm. Optical pod swivels 360° around the microscope arm, great in examining large specimens using the overhead LED incident light.

INCIDENT LIGHT. Three types of pinpoint LED cold lights are provided: white (daylight with color temperaturearoud 5500oK, simulated 589nm sodium light, and UV -390nm light). The light guide is fitted into the USB plug & play ports provided on the base of the portaLEDscope.

GEM HOLDER. One wire gemstone tweezers is provided with magnetic ball mounted on the base of the portaLEDscope for endless manipulation of the stone.

FITTED CASE. The optical pod, arm, pole, tweezers, 2X lens, AC cord and LED light guides are easily detached from the portaLEDscope base and fitted in the foam compartments of a custom-made aluminum-sided case with lock. The case measures about 12" x 9" x 3" and weight about 5.5 kilos. When traveling by air, the case is easily stored under an airplane's tourist class seat.

The voltage selector(110-220Vac), ac plug and ac cord is located opposite to the gemologist’s sitting position. The portaLEDscope takes only a minimum working space, only 185mm x 120mm and can be used anywhere in the world without adaptors.
